How to swap between DD and Heals easily in Cyrodiil
Eventually, when you play in groups (large or small), you end up in the situation (mid-game) where it would be best if someone swapped roles. You could imagine running in a 12-player group and one of your healers has a computer crash. This post is all about setting yourself up so that you can be flexible.
The Armory Station - the easiest way to reconfigure everything
The Armory Station allows you to store your equipment, skill, Champion points, Mundus stone, and even your curse. With one click of the button.
Here's an example where I've got 3 slots so that I can switch between a healer or a Stamden (DD) without having to leave Cyrodiil.
The only problem with this approach is that it requires slots. What do you do if you want to define more roles than you have slots? ... you need some Addons.
Addons: Wizard's Wardrobe / Dressing Room
I'm going to focus on Wizard's Wardrobe because it has all the features I need. But Dressing Room can work well here too.
One of the best things about Wardrobe is that it stores your slotted CP. This means you could use one Armory Station slot to define a setup with all the Champion Skills you'll need and then use Wardrobe to select between DD or Healer.
To make this work you'll want:
- enough skill points to unlock the skills you want for both setups
- to be willing to use the same attribute distribution for both -- ie 64 points into health
- and enough CP to unlock all the CP skills you want to slot
That said, you can still make it work without all that. Especially if you keep in mind the goal: being flexible when you might otherwise have to log into another character and face a lengthy queue.
Wardrobe will also let you deposit or withdraw your equipment from your bank. Just open both at the same time and look for the chest icon. (See picture above).
Addons: XL Gear Banker - storing and retrieving multiple equipment sets
Wardrobe's withdraw/deposit feature is pretty great. But sometimes you want to grab large sets of gear -- for example you might want to grab all the Plaguebreak gear you own at once. Or perhaps you're just not sold on the idea of using Wardrobe and would prefer using Dressing Room.
This is where XL Gear Banker comes in handy.
As you can see in the picture above I can withdraw everything I've defined in a set with one click from the Bank. The button beside it allows me to unequip that gear and deposit all of it into the Bank (again, just one click)
(You'll still need Wizard's Wardrobe or Dressing Room to equip the gear, but you need those to equip your skills anyway so this isn't really a problem.)
To make this approach work you'll need to make sure that your gear is in your Bank. But once you've done that you now have access to that equipment across all of your characters! (You only need one set of Vicious Death!)
Healers that do trials or run in large groups have gotten used to this. How many of you have heard a question like this 5 minutes before a raid: "Hey Bats, do you have Pillager's? Can you swap to it?". If you follow the advice above, you'll now be ready for this question: "Actually can you switch to DD?" ;)
Summary
Using an Armory Station slot, Wizard's Wardrobe, and XL Gear Banker, you can define multiple setups that let you tackle any role with a few button clicks!
